 Definition

A hydrology concept defining movement, storage, and quality of water across landscapes and subsurface systems. It governs fluxes such as precipitation, runoff, recharge, and evapotranspiration and their effects on rivers and aquifers. It does not guarantee water availability without accounting for demand, governance, and long-term recharge limits. It supports water management and hazard mitigation by quantifying flow regimes and quality constraints.
